Too much stuff

Watch comedian George Carlin’s classic video about having too much stuff.  I think it helped me to finally get through to my boyfriend about his flat.

WAY too much stuff; 8 stereo systems from boombox, to cassette tape to cd to record players, half of which are broken; sentimental stuff, collections of stuff and stuff in the flat that isn’t finished.  The list goes on.  I even bought him a bestselling book on how to be tidy called  The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing  by Marie “KonMari” Kondo.  He didn’t read it.  I did.  It does show that being tidy is a learned skill. Luckily, one I already have.

A cluttered house means a cluttered mind.  Never mind keeping things that are broken – what’s that about? Bad energy.

Having too many possessions is a 21st century illness.   We’re sold to every minute of the day and promised greater happiness through buying more.  Here are a couple of blogs about consuming less and the benefits of a simpler lifestyle: Becoming Minimalist and Zen Habits.

I spent 2 years slowly decluttering so when the time was right I was ready to move, and fast!
