Best beaches south Mallorca

Best beaches in South Mallorca. Mallorca is full of stunning beaches, but the southern coast is home to some of the most serene and unspoiled spots on the island. As someone who lives here and knows the area inside out, I’ve pulled together my go-to beach tips — the kind of places locals whisper about, perfect for lazy days, salty swims, and breezy beach picnics.

Best beaches in South Mallorca: Hidden gems and my personal favorites

1. Es Carbó Beach

My absolute favorite. Es Carbó is a quiet, postcard-perfect beach that flies under the tourist radar. Hidden near the village of Ses Salines, it’s mostly frequented by locals — and that’s part of the charm. Unless you’re a resident, you’ll need to walk about 30 minutes from Colonia de San Jordi (start at “Platja de es Port” and follow the coast). No bars, no crowds, just soft white sand and clear turquoise water.

How to get there: Park in Colonia de San Jordi near the harbor and walk left along the coast for around 30 minutes. It’s the last beach you’ll reach.

2. Cala Llombards

Easy to reach, lovely to look at. Cala Llombards is tucked between cliffs and pine trees and has just the right amount of chill. The sand is soft, the water is gentle, and there’s a beach bar where you can grab something cold. Ideal for families or anyone who just wants an easy, beautiful beach day.

How to get there: Navigate to “Cala Llombards.” There’s parking close to the beach entrance.

3.Cala Santanyí

Nestled in a picturesque cove surrounded by rocky cliffs and pine forests, Cala Santanyí is a charming beach with fine white sand and clear, calm waters. It’s family-friendly, with nearby restaurants and sun loungers available to rent. The peaceful setting and easy access make it a local favorite.

How to get there: Navigate to “Cala Santanyí.” There’s a parking area close to the beach, but it fills up quickly in summer — arrive early.

Extra tip: If you go to Cala Santanyí, don’t miss the Santanyí market that is taking place every Saturday and Wednesday. Check this blog article about Santanyí market for more info.

4. Cala s’Almunia

Just a short walk from the famous Caló des Moró, Cala s’Almunia is a peaceful alternative with turquoise waters and rocky surroundings. Perfect for snorkeling and soaking up raw, natural beauty, it’s a quiet, scenic cove ideal for a relaxed swim.

How to get there: Navigate to “Cala s’Almunia.” Park near Es Llombards and follow the signs on foot — it’s about a 15-minute walk to the beach.

5. Es Trenc Beach

Mallorca’s superstar beach — and for good reason. Think Caribbean vibes: shallow turquoise water, soft sand, and a dreamy coastline that stretches on and on. In summer, beach bars pop up, and I highly recommend a Sangria stop at Bar Esperanza. Park in Ses Covetes and stroll the last few minutes to paradise.

How to get there: Drive to the village of Ses Covetes, park nearby, and walk 5 minutes to the beach entrance.

Extra tip: The parking can get very crowded, make sure to be there early in the morning.

6. Cala Marmols

Ready for an adventure? Cala Marmols is wild, remote, and oh-so-worth the 1.5-hour hike from Faro de Ses Salines. It’s mostly accessible by boat, so arriving on foot guarantees a quiet slice of beach heaven. The hike’s scenic, the water is crystal clear, and there’s a real sense of discovery when you arrive.

How to get there: Park at Faro de Ses Salines and walk left along the coast for about 1.5 hours until you reach the bay.

7.Es Caragol Beach

This one’s for the explorers. Tucked away near the Faro de Ses Salines, it takes a 30-minute coastal walk to reach, but the payoff is big: powdery sand, see-through water, and a whole lot of peace and quiet. Bring snacks and water — there’s nothing commercial here, and that’s exactly why it’s so magical.

How to get there: Navigate to “Faro de Ses Salines” and walk right along the coast for about 30 minutes until you reach the beach.

8. S’Amarador Beach

Part of the protected Mondragó Natural Park, this beach is all about nature. The short walk through the park sets the tone — calm, green, and peaceful. Once you arrive, it’s just you, the sea, and soft sand underfoot. No loud crowds, just birdsong and crashing waves.

How to get there: Navigate to “Parc Natural de Mondragó.” Park at the official lot and follow the signs for a 10-minute walk to the beach.

9. Cala Mondragó

If you want something slightly livelier than S’Amarador, Cala Mondragó is right around the corner. Still stunning, still relaxed, but with a few extra comforts like beachside cafés. It’s got a cozy, friendly vibe and shallow waters that are perfect for floating the afternoon away.

How to get there: From the same parking at Mondragó Natural Park, follow the signs toward Cala Mondragó — it’s just a short walk from S’Amarador.

10.Caló Des Moró

Jaw-dropping. That’s the best way to describe Caló Des Moró. Tiny but powerful, this cove gets crowded fast, so arrive early (8 AM is golden hour). The nearby Cala s’Almunia is another gem — quieter, just as gorgeous, and drenched in morning light. Snorkeling here is next-level, so gear up.

How to get there: Navigate to “Caló Des Moró.” In Es Llombards, park at the large designated parking lot, then walk about 15 minutes to the beach.

Best beaches in South Mallorca, extra tips to make the most of your beach days:

Even the quieter beaches can fill up on weekends — locals love them too! Aim to get there early (around 8–9 AM), and keep your plans flexible. Stick to one or two beaches per day max — hopping between them in summer traffic can be a mood-killer. And honestly? A beachside picnic with some local treats beats most restaurants anyway.

1. Bring cash. A lot of beach spots and smaller bars still don’t take cards. Avoid the ATM hunt and have some euros in your bag just in case.

2. Wear water shoes. Some beaches — especially the wilder ones — can be rocky when you enter the sea. Water shoes will save your feet (and your mood).

3. Pack your own shade. Most of these beaches don’t have loungers or umbrellas for rent. A sunshade or lightweight umbrella will make a huge difference, especially in the midday heat.

4. Don’t forget a cooler bag. Want cold drinks all day? Or to keep your bocadillos fresh? A small cooler bag is your best beach buddy.

5. Save beach spots in Google Maps. Reception can be patchy and signs are not always clear — save pins in advance so you’re not driving in circles.

6. Pick up local snacks. Before heading to the beach, swing by a local bakery or market. Ensaimadas, olives, cheese, fruit — they make your beach day taste even better.

Where to visit South Mallorca?
Start with the coastline around Colonia de San Jordi, then explore the nature-rich coves in Mondragó Natural Park. Southern Mallorca offers laid-back charm, crystal-clear waters, and hidden beaches where you can truly unwind.

Is North or South Majorca better?
It depends what you’re after! The south is calmer, perfect for beach-hopping, relaxing and enjoying local life. The north has dramatic landscapes, mountain views, and more action — ideal for hiking or water sports lovers.

Which side of Mallorca has best beaches?
Many locals would say the south! You’ll find Caribbean-like stretches such as Es Trenc and quiet coves like Caló des Moró. The north has gems too, but the south is unbeatable for long sandy beaches and clear, swimmable waters.

Which part of Mallorca is least touristy?
The southeast, especially around Ses Salines, is still relatively untouched. Beaches like Es Carbó and Cala Marmols stay quiet even in summer — it’s where locals go to escape the crowds.
